PurHome X-5
High Capacity, WQA Certified Whole House Water Filtration System with a 5-Year Capacity Guarantee!
Price: $899.00 or larger PurHome X51 $999
No other home filter is more affordable and effective at removing contaminants than the PurHome from PuriTec.
Description: The PurHome X-5 is a High Capacity Whole House Water Filtration System. It begins with an amazing 0.35 micron pre-filter for the finest filtration and crystal clear water (a human hair is about 100 - 200 micron). Next, the water passes through NSF Certified KDF media, a combination of two dissimilar alloys, to remove chlorine over 99%, as well as filter heavy metals like lead, mercury, copper, nickel, chromium, and other dissolved metals, and extends the life of the carbon stage. KDF also provides a bacteriastatic environment. Most other whole house systems use only carbon. Carbon is a must in water filtration, however, it can be a breeding ground for bacteria over time. KDF inhibits bacteria growth and can increase carbon life as much as 300%. Kdf and carbon together are a powerful medium
In the third and final stage, the water passes through coconut shell Granular Activated Carbon (GAC), the most highly adsorbent known for reducing chlorine, bad taste and odor, and many organic contaminants including pesticides, herbicides, Benzene, and THMs. Activated carbon is recommended by the Water Quality Association for superior water treatment, click here for more information.
The PurHome system provides crystal clear, odor-free water while preserving healthy minerals like Calcium. Filters approximately 500,000 gallons of water or about 5 years for the average home! Rated at 8 gallons per minute with higher peak flow rates. Plenty of water that ensures no pressure loss. (The average American family uses only about 5 - 6 gpm at a given time with occasional peaks up to 8 gpm). 3/4" female pipe thread inlet and outlet (For 1" piping, visit our PurHome X-51 Water System. The PurHome Series is primarily designed for use on municipally treated water but may be used on well water where bacteria is not a concern, or may be used in conjunction with a UV light system.

What is Hard Water?
You can easily identify hard water by the following symptoms of soap curd (soap scum) or scale:
Ring around your bathtub
Dull or hard to manage hair
Need to use excessive body lotions or creams
Razor blades dull easily
White clothes are graying
Glasses and dishes are spotted
Dry, red, rough irritated skin
Need for fabric softener and bleach
Scale at mouth of faucets
Shortage of hot water
Shortened water appliance life
Plugging shower head jets
Shriveling of pod vegetables
Fraying of clothes in washer
Scale build-up in pipes
Hard Water Conditioners, or Salt-Free Conditioners, such as the PS Series does not use salt and is therefore nearly maintenance-free. It is ideal for people that do not want to bother adding salt and for people that don't mind not having truly "softened" water. It is very environmentally friendly as it does not require electricity. It uses a special media called Filtersorb SP3, which is a water conditioning system that is maintenance free, chemical free, salt free, and green water conditioning process. Unlike other conditioners, Filtersorb SP3 does not release harmful minerals or chemicals into our water system, does not waste excessive amounts of water, reduces energy consumption, and preserves beneficial minerals. If you are looking for a system that does not backwash (which creates water waste), does not use electricity and does not require any routine maintenance, then the PS-Series Salt free maintenance free conditioners
are a good choice for you. We recommend the PS-1000 for up to 4 people per household or the PS-3000 for up to 7 people per household.
I prefer Salt-free Water Softeners * Traditional Water Softeners have been banned in my area
* I want to keep the healthy minerals in the water
* I want a maintenance-free system
* I want to protect my pipes and appliances from build-up damage
* I don't like the feel of slippery water
* I don't mind a few spots on dishes
* I don't want to waste electricity
* I don't want to waste water
The Total Water Filtration System (TWFS) Series water treatment from PuriTec combines the long lasting and reliable filtration of KDF, with the patented RWE water conditioner. The bed of garnet clarifies your water. There is no electricity needed, no backwashing or water waste, and no routine filter maintenance. KDF-55 is an NSF Certified media inside the main tank that substantially reduces 99% of chlorine, up to 98% of lead, mercury, copper, nickel, chromium, and other dissolved metals, and also inhibits the growth of bacteria. KDF has roughly 10 times the life of carbon for chlorine removal giving an exceptional long filtration life. The upflow design prevents water channeling for maximum filtration.
The water also passes through the PuriTec RWE Hard Water Conditioner. This patented system controls the formation of scale and corrosion deposits without the use of chemicals and gives the water softer properties. Several are installed in a row onto the distributor tube inside the main filter tank for maximum contact time and effectiveness. An additional RWE Conditioner is included for after the water tank. For more detailed information on the RWE Conditioner technology click here.
The pre-filter, just prior to the main filter tank, is a 5 micron, washable filter to remove sediments and other suspended matter from your water, making your water crystal-clear. The final stage of the Total Water Filtration System is carbon block filtration which filters bad tastes, odors, VOC's and SOC's including pesticides, herbicides, and chlorine by-products like THM's and HAA5's. Replace on average every 18 months to 2 years.
How to choose your size system:
A typical 4 - 5 person family uses up to 8 GPM. Larger homes with 3-1/2 or more baths should choose a larger system for higher flow rates and longer filter life.
What Technologies are available to correct hard water?
There are primarily three technologies available today to help resolve hard water issues. We prefer the salt free system and for some situation the rwe is sufficient.
3. Magnet Technology The PuriTec RWE Magnets and the magnets found in MC UNITS are specifically designed to break down the properties of hard water through a patented magnetic technology. The technology is more of a hard water "de-scaler" than a "water softener". It is very effective in protecting plumbing and water-using appliances from hard water damage by preventing and removing existing hard scale build-up. Because it lowers the surface tension of water, making the water "wetter", it also improves lathering and rinsing, although is not as effective as a true water softener. It does not make water "slippery soft". This maintenance-free technology retains the water minerals Calcium and Magnesium as opposed to a traditional water softener which removes these hard minerals, replacing them with sodium. Because of this, if you test your water for hardness after installing, the water will still test "hard" because a test for "hardness" in reality is a test for the presence of certain minerals. The salt free conditioner breaks down the hard properties of the minerals without removing them.
Important: All of the Salt-free / No-salt softeners on the market today do not remove the minerals.
Salt-free / No salt water softeners change the properties of the minerals rendering them harmless to your pipes and appliances. Salt-free/No-salt softeners work behind the scenes de-scaling existing scale and preventing future scale or build-up from occurring. They reduce the surface tension of the water putting the minerals in a held state. Because the minerals are still in the water you may see some spots on dishes and a white residue from time to time however it is easily wiped off.
Eco-Friendly: Salt-free/No-salt systems require very little maintenance, no electricity, and are considered to be an environmentally friendly product. Save money and save the planet while addressing your hard water issues. Total Water Filtration System

Maintenance-free hard water conditioning with no electricity, no water waste and no salt!
PuriTec Premier Water Softeners are effective and safe for the whole house. No salt or chemicals are added to your water. Long lasting filter media provides years of trouble-free hard water conditioning.
What is hard water and what problems can it cause in my home?
Hard water is water that has a high mineral content, consisting mainly of Calcium and Magnesium. When hard water is heated it precipitates these minerals to form hard deposits sometimes called lime scale. Problems caused by this scaling effect include reduced efficiency of water heaters, dishwashers and other water-using equipment; reduced flow through faucets, showerheads and appliances; hard water spots on mirrors, shower doors, and dishes; inefficient sudsing and cleaning.
How is hard water usually treated?
Hard water, for the past 40+ years has been treated with a traditional water softener that uses a process called ion exchange. Sodium chloride (or potassium chloride) is used to re-charge the softening resin in a filter tank, releasing the sodium (or potassium) portion into your drinking water and throughout your home. This type of technology requires routine maintenance, electricity and a water drain line.
But now you have a choice...
The PurHome Premier Softener is the safest, most effective, easy to install water conditioner available anywhere. It requires no routine maintenance, no electricity and no line to drain; only a simple inlet/outlet connection is required. Fabricated of only the highest quality, certified components, it will provide you years of trouble-free service.

Description: The MC System removes the harmful effects of common water problems found in wells or other untreated water sources, through the use of a 3-stage process, without the use of chemicals or sodium.
Stage 1: In this first stage water passes through Anthracite. Anthracite media reduces sediments and turbidity for crystal clear water.
Stage 2: Pyrolox with a Garnet base is used in the next stage. Pyrolox is a high purity, high capacity filtration media for hydrogen sulfide (sulfur), iron and manganese reduction. Garnet will filter sediments and oxidized iron down to the 20-30 micron range. Pyrolox works on the principal of a catalyst reaction, but itself remains unchanged. The Sulfur, Iron and Manganese in your water will oxidize on the Pyrolox Media and a simple backwashing cleans the bed of media.
Stage 3: In the final stage the water passes through the PuriTec RWE Hard Water Conditioner. This patented system, when installed in a water supply line, controls the formation of scale and corrosion deposits without the use of chemicals and gives the water softer properties. Several are installed in a row onto the distributor tube inside the main filter tank for maximum contact time and effectiveness.
This system is completely automatic, home-owner friendly and fully programmable to suit your specific needs.
Please note: pH must be 6.6 or above. If not, the water is too acidic to properly oxidize with the media. Acidic water is also very damaging to plumbing, fixtures and appliances. If sulfur-reducing bacteria is present, a chlorinator may need to be installed prior.
